Flexible American Heart Association® Training with Safety Training Seminars
Healthcare professionals and students in Oakland, California now have access to a flexible, modern way to complete American Heart Association® BLS, ACLS, and PALS training—without attending a scheduled classroom course. Safety Training Seminars offers Self-Guided Learning™ courses completed through a combination of online learning and hands-on skills verification at a CPR Verification Station™ learning center. With three convenient Oakland locations, learners can complete required training on their own schedule while meeting American Heart Association guidelines.
What Is Self-Guided Learning™?
Self-Guided Learning™ is an American Heart Association educational approach that combines two required components:
Self-paced online cognitive learning
A self-guided, hands-on skills session completed at a CPR Verification Station™ learning center
Learners complete both components independently. Upon successful completion, they receive an American Heart Association Course Completion eCard for BLS, ACLS, or PALS. This approach is ideal for busy healthcare professionals who want flexibility without compromising training quality or compliance.
HeartCode® Complete Courses for BLS, ACLS, and PALS
At Safety Training Seminars in Oakland, Self-Guided Learning™ is offered through HeartCode® Complete courses for:
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Each HeartCode® Complete course includes a True Adaptive™ online learning activity followed by a self-guided skills session at a CPR Verification Station™ learning center. These courses follow a structured American Heart Association pathway designed for both initial and renewal learners.
HeartCode® is a trademark of the American Heart Association.
True Adaptive™ Online Learning: Personalized and Efficient
The online portion of HeartCode® Complete uses True Adaptive™ learning powered by Area9 Lyceum. This technology continuously assesses learner knowledge and confidence, dynamically adjusting content to focus on individual knowledge gaps.
Key features of the online learning activity include:
Self-paced, adaptive online learning
Accessible on desktop, laptop, or tablet
Personalized learning pathways
Scenario- and algorithm-based content
Efficient, competency-focused design
Learners must complete the online learning activity before attending the skills session. Completion of the online portion alone does not result in an American Heart Association Course Completion eCard.
Self-Guided Skills Sessions at a CPR Verification Station™ Learning Center
After completing the online learning activity, learners schedule and complete their hands-on skills session at one of Safety Training Seminars’ three CPR Verification Station™ learning centers in Oakland.
During the self-guided skills session:
Skills are completed independently, without an instructor
Learners receive real-time, objective performance feedback
CPR performance is measured against AHA-defined criteria
Practice may be repeated as needed to achieve a passing score
The CPR Verification Station™ learning center objectively verifies psychomotor skills such as compressions, ventilations, and two-rescuer CPR. Once both course components are successfully completed, learners are eligible to receive their American Heart Association Course Completion eCard
